We heard about the Braque Francais breed from a friend, and being avid upland hunters did some research to find out more. Intrigued by what we found, we went on a search for our very own Braque Francais pup. We are very fortunate to have been able to adopt not one, but three fantastic Braques. Mya was born in April of 2011 and came to us from New York, Palin was born in May of 2011 and came to us from Wisconsin, and Rhett was born in November of 2012 and also came to us from New York.
We knew from our research and from talking with other Braque owners that they would be great. What we didn't know is that they would be the most extraordinary dogs we have ever owned. We got our pups when they were between the ages of 8 and 9 weeks. Mya was our first and she began pointing quail wings in the back yard immediately. Very soon, she was retrieving bird to hand and was holding her points. Both other dogs have followed suit and were hunting easily by the end of their first hunting season.
Darnell is an upland guide and his clients have been amazed at their skill, maturity, and personalities. They are such versatile dogs and have proven to be "out of the box" hunting dogs, great house dogs, and are wonderful with children.
